Rod and his team produce a family of premium wines under various labels – Quarter Acre, Te Awanga Estate, Two Gates and the ‘One-Offs’. Our challenge was to give the brands a cohesive identity and capitalise on Rod’s reputation as a talented winemaker. To achieve this, we came up with a singular identity to be used as the key equity on all Rod McDonald wine labels. The RMW crest now appears on all Rod McDonald wines while each label still maintains its own unique identity.

While the Quarter Acre and Te Awanga Estate labels represent a more classic, enduring approach to wine branding, the ‘One-Off’ wines allow both the winemaker and the designers to have a little bit of fun, creating something a little less ordinary with a healthy disregard for brand families, consumer expectations and marketing fundamentals.
